It is a remake of the 1989 Telugu movie Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu. It was dubbed in Hindi and released under the same title.
Plot summary
The movie revolves around Vijay (Mithun Chakraborty), who lives with his three sisters after their mother's death. He works as a mechanic and takes care of his sisters' education and marriage. He falls in love with Radha (Madhuri Dixit), who is the sister of Inspector Arun (Bharat Bhushan), a corrupt cop. Arun does not approve of their relationship and tries to separate them. He also frames Vijay for raping his other sister, Mohini (Roopa Ganguly). Vijay is arrested and brought before Chief Justice Saraswati Manohar Rai (Nirupa Roy), who happens to be Arun's mother. Vijay confesses his guilt, but later reveals that he did so to protect Radha from Arun's wrath. He also exposes Arun's crimes and corruption. Vijay is acquitted and reunited with Radha, while Arun is arrested and disowned by his mother.
